eQuest Reports Best Days to Post Jobs
on the Internet & Candidate Viewing Patterns
Metrics Based on 200 Million Worldwide
Job Posting Transactions
San Ramon, CA – April 24, 2008 - eQuest, which manages
job posting deliveries for more than 20,000 companies worldwide,
announced today its findings on when best to post jobs to
the Internet as well as candidate viewing habits.
The report was based on eQuest's job tracking technology
which follows jobs to hundreds of global job boards, tracking
how many candidates view each job and how many of these candidates
move to the next step of the application process by clicking
on the apply icon. This tracking illuminates precious advertising
trends; including the best dates and times candidates are
reviewing and responding to job advertisements. The report
did not include hiring statistics.
The results were based on activity from January 1, 2007 through
December 31, 2007.
Unlike 2006, where candidates preferred viewing and responding
to jobs during the lunch hour on Tuesdays and Wednesdays,
the 2007 report indicates that candidates are now searching
steadily throughout the week, with a significant decline in
search activity over the weekend.
Specifically, eQuest’s 2007 data shows that Monday
through Friday registered a consistent 18% daily viewing share
of the total week’s activity. Saturday and Sunday declined
to 5% per day.
eQuest also revealed that job seekers searched for jobs more
frequently during certain hours of the day. The 2007 eQuest
analysis indicated that most Internet users are searching
for jobs most frequently during their work day, with a sharp
increase in viewing activity beginning at 12 noon and continuing
at a consistent rate until 4PM.
“This data enables our clients to post jobs when they
are most likely to be seen,” stated John Malone, President
& CEO of eQuest. “Since the search results of most
job boards' are revealed to seekers based on the date and
time each job was posted, this data is critical to getting
jobs in front of the most candidates. As a result, we recommend
that our clients post their jobs on Sunday evening or early
mornings on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
