eQuest Releases Employment Index Results for January, 2012
United States continues strong positive index growth based on significant growth in job posting while the UK has another slight monthly decline.
San Ramon, CA – London – February 21, 2012: eQuest today announced its employment findings for January, 2012 as published in its Employment Index.
The United Kingdom continued downward with another month of increased applicant traffic and stagnant job growth. The result was another small decline in the in the UK Index from 97.85 to 98.38. While the number continues marginally down, the gap between locations that are hiring and those that job lack of job availability continue to grow. Index values continue to vary widely in the UK ranging from 116.31 at the top to 79.43 at the low end of the spectrum. Eden, East Devon and Ryedale again posted the highest overall demand values while Nottingham, Kingston upon Hull and Liverpool continued a more than year long position at the bottom of the regional list for candidate demand. London continues to show positive signs of growth with increased job volume and reasonable applicant traffic.
The eQuest Employment Index will also report on the spending patterns of the Fortune 500 including job posting volumes based on activity over the prior month. The index derives its findings through algorithms based on the supply and demand of open positions posted to responding candidates. A target index of 100 reflects balance in the number of applicants vying for each open position posted. The data to create the index includes thousands of monthly job posting transactions. Reporting includes analysis by industry using the governments Standard Occupational Codes (SOC) in major metros and states and over 950 job classifications.
